National Scholastic Press Journalism Convention
April 17 - 20, 2008


13 Sierra students participated in training sessions on writing, editing, photography and graphic design.
All 13 were great representatives of Sierra Middle School.

2 students earned special recognition-

Katelyn Strabala
was awarded an Honorable Mention certificate in the High School level Student Life Photography competition. Katie was competing against nearly 100 hundred high school students in her category.

Alexandra McCart
was the top winner in the Middle School Sports Photography competition winning a Superior rating. Alex was the only Middle School student to earn a Superior in any category.

Only 3 Middle School students earned certificates out of the nearly 1800 students in competition, with 2 of them being from Sierra.
These awards recognize Katie and Alex as two of the top Middle School photojournalists in the country.
