The Mountain Vista High School Counseling Department is a comprehensive guidance and counseling program facilitating student growth in academics, career, and personal / social development. We are committed to serving and supporting students, families, and staff through listening, problem-solving, informing, guiding, nurturing, for the purpose of inspiring all toward extraordinary efforts.

How To See A Counselor

~Students - Counselors have sign-up sheets on a clipboard that hangs next to their door. Sign-up in the time slot you want to see your counselor. Mrs. Neely will give you a pass to return on the day of your appointment.
~Parents - Please call 303-387-1526 to make an appointment or to speak with your student's counselor.

Sites Descriptions
Alanon/Alateen This site contains basic information about this organization which assists adults and teens with alcohol related concerns. It includes 20 questions designed to help you decide whether or not you need Al-Anon, 20 questions designed to help teenagers decide whether or not Alateen is for them.
Alcoholics Anonymous
This link is to the teen section of the well known twelve step program for treatment of alcoholism.
Black Board On-line
Informative site on a variety of issues of interest to gay and lesbian students.
Change Your Mind About Mental Health
Site sponsored by the American Psychological Association approaches mental health concerns from the young adult's point of view. It's designed to help teens assess their own concerns and decide whether professional help is needed. Anecdotes and examples make serious mental health problems easier to identify and understand.
Eating Disorders
The web site of Eating Disorders Awareness and Prevention, Inc., a nonprofit organization devoted to the awareness and prevention of eating disorders.
Internet Mental Health
This site attempts to improve understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of mental illness. It describes the 532 most common mental disorders, 67 most commonly prescribed psychiatric drugs, and offers online diagnosis.
Prevention Primer
Comprehensive site with links to many prevention topics listed alphabetically, ranging from AIDS to tobacco.
Suicide Prevention
FAQ on suicide, symptoms of depression and suicidal danger signs, most common misconceptions about suicide, what students should do if a friend had depression, what hospitalization does for depressives and a recommended reading list.
Teen New Horizons
A self help site for the families of out of control teenagers. Concerns include behavior, mental health, drugs, alcohol and sex.
Web of Addictions
The Web of Addictions is dedicated to providing accurate information about alcohol and other drug addictions. It has links to treatment organizations and organizations promoting prevention of substance abuse.
