Asking Quality Questions - CPS Clickers
DESCRIPTION: Participants will gain a knowledge base to successfully use CPS (Classroom Performance Systems "clickers") in the classroom. Best practices, and research based knowledge concerning questioning skills in the classroom will be integrated into CPS use. The objective of this course is to produce various assessment lessons that will directly impact students and teacher instruction. e-Instruction clickers, will be used for training in this course. LEARNER OBJECTIVES: Participants, with access to CPS clickers, will obtain the skills needed for successful operation of the CPS software to create quality assessments. Create class and assessment lessons in both teacher-managed and student-managed modes. Create/develop questions that can be used to enhance teacher instruction and student learning. Utilize advanced questioning skills to construct "Higher Order Thinking" questions. Discuss and implement “The Art of Questions”- How to write quality questions,
- Benefits of questioning,
- Timing of questioning
- How to use feedback to impact direct instruction.
- Utilize the clickers with video, audio integration and note taking.
- Integrate questions into everyday instruction
- Use CPS with PowerPoint, pre-made online quizzes, textbook-created assessments, and photos.
- Engage in deeper levels of data interpretation and more accurate assessments using the report function of CPS
