Student Discipline Policy
Administration at Highlands Ranch High School believes in “Progressive Student Discipline” built on both TRUST and SUPPORT from staff and parents. Through consistent documentation and effective communication, HRHS staff and students can feel safe in an academic rich environment. Students at HRHS will be treated like young adults, individuals who will be given the opportunity to live and learn as they prepare themselves for graduation day.
Students who make poor decisions around attendance and behavior will be given several opportunities to correct them. Either at the start of a new semester or school year, depending on circumstances, students will be given a clean slate. For those who made decisions that resulted in expulsion or was a first drug/alcohol offense, slates can not be cleaned due to DCSD policy.
The student discipline philosophy administration employs has been built with both the Douglas County School District and Highlands Ranch High School core values in mind. These core values will be the basis of the decisions needed to be made around the discipline given to any HRHS student.
