| To
those of you who are new to this Web page- welcome. To everyone
else, thank you for taking the time to read this. Please try to
at least skim the topics - there may be something that pertains
to or interests you! Please include your full name and phone number
if you can help out.
Confidentiality Agreements must be signed BEFORE you volunteer
for anything at CRMS. If it's your first time, please sign an agreement
(on the Volunteer Table in the Main office) and leave it under the
sign in sheet.
Signing In - All volunteers are required by the
school district and CRMS administration to sign in when they come
to volunteer. If you have a set schedule (eg. 9:00 - 11:00) you
can put your sign out time down as well. This is a security issue,
but also a point of pride for our school, as the District compares
parent support in terms of volunteer hours between schools.

The Douglas
County School District has designed programming for middle school
students who require educational challenges beyond what can reasonably
be expected from the regular school program in order to realize
their individual potential. These students can be identified by
the following characteristics:
- They make
connections between and among disciplines and concepts beyond
what could be expected among their age peers.
- They are
able to learn quickly and need appropriately paced instruction.
- They are
usually inquisitive and often passionate about one or more areas
of interest.
- They have
interests beyond those which could be expected of their age peers.
- They are
advanced academically in math and/or language concepts.
- They have
curriculum needs which must be individualized beyond what is expected
in the regular classroom.
- They display
a high level of cognitive potential.
- Their social
and emotional needs require grouping with their intellectual peers
not often available within the regular classroom.
This program will address the needs of this
population by:
- allowing
for both acceleration and enrichment in one or more areas of the
curriculum, thus ensuring student progress commensurate with ability.
- stressing
academically rigorous content in order to excel in meeting the
Douglas County Content Standards in identified areas of strength.
- meeting academic,
emotional, and social needs.
- fostering
self motivation, responsibility and self confidence and establishing
patterns of independent lifelong learning.

Selected students will be grouped together
for challenging language arts and/or math
classes.
The nomination
process may be initiated by a teacher or other professional, parent
or student. Many students will fit the profile but with a limited
number of space not all children will be served in the 2005-2006
school year. Multiple criteria will be considered in the selection
process which gives evidence of the best match to the established
student profile. Please click here
for more information.

DRESS
POLICY
Developed
by the Student Advisory
    Committee and Faculty Link Committee
|
School is a
business-like setting where appropriate dress enhances the learning
climate. We at Castle Rock Middle School feel students should learn
to dress for success. Students are encouraged to dress comfortably,
cleanly, and appropriately at all times. The following is our dress
code policy which applies to all students and staff:
- Clothing
should not expose undergarments, midriffs and/or private parts.
Shirts should be of a length to be tucked in or worn over a belt
line. Suggestive tight shorts, skirts, and tops are not appropriate.
Sagging pants or shorts are not appropriate.
- Clothing
and jewelry that advertise drugs, sex, alcohol, death, suicide,
gangs, negative or derogatory messages are NOT permitted.
- State law
requires that shoes must be worn at all times.
- Ear piercing
is the only body piercing allowed to be visible.
- Hats, dog
collars, and chains are inappropriate items to wear on campus
or at any school function.
A student who
violates these policies will be given a choice of calling home for
appropriate clothing to be brought to school or changing into a
garment provided by CRMS. If a student refuses he/she will spend
the day in ACE (in-house suspension) and not be allowed to attend
classes.
