Douglas County Preschools
The Douglas County Preschool Program is an integrated program for typically
developing children and children with special needs. We have 15 students
per session with 2-4 adults at all times. The classroom staff consists
of a classroom teacher, and an assistant. We also have a special education
teacher, occupational therapist, speech therapist, and special education
assistant, who rotate into the classroom on a weekly basis.
Curriculum: The Douglas County Preschool Program teaches all children
in an age appropriate way and treats them with respect and as individuals.
Open-ended, active learning activities allow children at all developmental
levels to be challenged, work together, and learn from one another.
Preschools are located
throughout the district in various elementary and high school buildings.
We are a tuition based program. Tuition is subject to change from year
to year. For the 08-09 school year the tuition will be $150 per month
for a 2 day program and $290 per month for a 4 day program.
Preschool children
must be 3 by October 1st in order to register for the preschool program.
If your child turns 3 after October 1st, you will need to wait until the
next registration year.
Registration for preschool is through a lottery system, usually held the
2nd week of March. No money is collected at registration time. If you are
selected in the lottery you will then be required to pay a nonrefundable
registration fee.
