Scoring:
Each Star Math paper consists of 6-8 problems. Each problem has one or two
stars next to it. If the problem is correct the first time, it will be worth
2x the number of stars.
For instance, a problem with two stars
will be worth four points if correct on Friday. If the problem needs to
be corrected over the weekend, it will be worth 1x the star when returned.
For instance, a two star problem that needed to be corrected will be worth

Star Math is due back on Friday.
The child will need to initial the upper right hand corner stating that
the work was done on their own. That does not mean parents cannot help!
Please feel free to help with STRATEGIES and how to apply those strategies
to solve the problem. Please use your best judgement as to how much assistance

Friday.
Children met with their group leader. They will have books to read or other
assignments to work on while Group Leader scores Star Math papers. Group
Leader marks a STAR next to correct answers Incorrect answers are CIRCLED.
Papers are handed back to students. STUDENTS ARE NOT TO CORRECT THEIR PAPERS

Have students discuss the problems that they had questions about. Use board/dry
erase board/ manipulatives to demonstrate STRATEGIES, not actual answers.
Collect correct papers. Any papers that need to be corrected go in HOMEWORK
FOLDERS to be returned with corrections on Monday.
