THE TRACK SYSTEM!!

Coyote Creek, as well as most of the Douglas County Elementary schools, is on a year-round system. This system, called a "track" system, utilizes the school to its highest potential.

Coyote Creek is set up with three "pods" around a central core. (See floor plan). At any one time, one track will be "off-track" for three weeks while the other three tracks are in the pods. After three weeks, the track that was off "tracks "back in to a room being vacated by the off-going track.

The pods are set up as vertical teams. Each pod had grades 1-6, with kindergartens being located in the center of the building. Therefore, when a new track comes back, although the pod is new, the children still go to a familiar classroom layout (the same room location as in the other pods)

A typical track rotation would look like this:
 Red Pod
 Yellow Pod
 Blue Pod
 Off
 Track B
 Track C
 Track A
 Track D
  Track B
  Track C
  Track A
  Track D
  Track B
  Track C
  Track A
  Track D

 Track Off
 Track in to Blue Pod
  Track B
  Track C
  Track D
  Track A
  Track B
  Track C
  Track D
  Track A
  Track B
  Track C
  Track D
  Track A
 Track Off
     Track in to Red Pod
   Track A
   Track C
   Track D
  Track B
   Track A
   Track C
   Track D
  Track B
   Track A
   Track C
   Track D
  Track B

 Track Off
   Track in to Yellow Pod
    Track A
  Track B
   Track D
    Track C
    Track A
   Track B
   Track D
    Track C
    Track A
   Track B
   Track D
    Track C
An easier way to think of it is :A Follows B, B follows C, C follows D, D follows A..." when tracking on. Good luck!
