The True Meaning

Every year during the month of December, families are decorating their homes with lights, wreaths, Christmas trees, and Santa Claus.  But do you know the true meaning of Christmas?  Is it really about gifts and lights?  NO!  Christmas is a celebration of the Savior's birth.

In Bethlehem, Mary (Jesus’ mother) was pregnant.  Joseph, Mary's husband, and Mary needed a place to stay, but all of the inns were completely full. One nice man who owned a stable offered to let them stay in his stable.  So Mary and Joseph took the offer.  Three wise men were trying to find the stable. Late that night someone very special was about to be born.  The wise men, lead by the North Star to the stable, were all there to give the little baby presents.

Christians all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus because he came to save us that very day.  The gifts that we receive are fun to get, but like the wise men, we should be more focused on giving than receiving.

Jolly Old St. Nick

Children across the country receive gifts from a jolly old fellow named St. Nick, but many people call him Santa Claus.  Every Christmas Eve, Santa comes on his sleigh led by Rudolph the red nose reindeer. Children put cookies and milk by the tree for Santa Claus just in case he’s hungry. Some kids leave there slippers out 12 days before Christmas and the elves come to put little gifts in the slippers every night until Christmas.

Many people ask, “Is Santa Claus real or is he just a made up fairy tale?” Some believe in his amazing travels around the world and his elves that make the toys, but others don’t believe. Has anyone seen Santa? Has anyone been to his house in the North Pole? Has anyone seen his elves? Do you believe in St. Nick?

Although Santa comes and everyone is happy because they received gifts, we must all remember the true meaning of Christmas!
