Multi Issue Jeopardy
By Chris Givin & Lucas Laughlin
We utilized the popular game show, Jeopardy, to teach students about health and your body. In the game there were six different categories: smoking, heart, mental health, blood, exercise health, and nutrition.
The category smoking was about the dangers of smoking. The heart category was about your heart and how to keep it healthy. In the mental health category the questions were about where to go if you are depressed or if you are mentally ill. The blood category was about your blood and its components. Exercise health was about the importance of exercise. The last category, which was nutrition, was about maintaining a healthy diet.

Contestants answering blood for 300
|
Some of the students were really into the game and knew way more than we expected them to know. One of the questions most of the students were surprised at was “Smoking for 300”. The question was “ Which of the following items are found in cigarettes?” The choices were ammonia, rat poison, nail polish remover, and all of the above. Most students chose nail polish remover, but the answer was all of the above. The students all thought it was disgusting that there was rat poison in cigarettes. We are positive that most of the students went home and told their parents about cigarettes and rat poison.
We thought every student walked away from our station with a new piece of information about his or her body or health. |
