What is a Political Party?
When party comes to mind, you will probably think of music, dancing, and fruit punch, but a political party is a lot different. A political party is a group of people who all believe in the same thing. The two biggest parties in the United States are the Democratic and Republican parties. There is also other parties including the Independent Party. |
Republican Party
The Republican Party believes in many different ideas than the Democratic Party. The Republicans believe that they should lower the taxes, continue to fight for victory in the war on terror, have a smaller government, and individual freedom for everyone. President George Bush has already lowered the taxes, but the war is still the main issue.

Democratic Party
The Democratic Party believes that every American should have a chance to have a good life and if you need help, the government should help you. |
Republican Plan
John McCain, who is representing the Republican Party in the 2008 election, is an experienced conservative leader like past presidents Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan. He believes in a strong national defense, a smaller, more accountable government, economic growth and opportunity, the dignity of life and traditional values.

Democratic Plan
Democrats have ideas for a safer America. They seek: 1) “Honest Leadership & Open Government, 2) Real Security, 3) Energy Independence, 4) Economic Prosperity & Educational Excellence, 5) A Healthcare System that works for everyone, and 6) Retirement Security”. These are some ways they believe will help make America better. The Democratic Party has a long and proud history of their beliefs of personal freedom. |
