Dive into the adventures of the sun! That was the theme of the Sun Care Adventure Station. Over 500 students and adults learned about protection from the sun at this station.

The sun can be very dangerous. Students learned about a disease called Melanoma which is a skin cancer. It can develop from getting too much sun and not using sunscreen or protecting your skin. The Sun Station had pictures of moles, ones that were normal and ones that were melanoma moles.

A little girl told us that her dad had a strange black mole that looked similar to the ones in the pictures of Melanoma Moles.

We told her to go tell him to go to the doctor and have it checked out right away. Hopefully the information from our station helped save someone’s life!

Students also played some fun educational games at the Sun Station. One game was called the Sun and Moon game. This game is just like “pin the tail on the donkey”. A student had to answer a challenging question in order to pin a part on the sun or moon.

Talking about sun care over and over again helped us realize how important it is to protect your skin. We hope every student and adult that visited the Sun Station will always use sunscreen and protect their skin.
