ETIL 2007 - 2008 Educational Technolology Information Literacy Program
 
 
ETIL Program at Buffalo Ridge Educational Technology and Information Literacy is a program that was started last year in Douglas County Schools. We are fortunate to be one of five elementary schools that started the program last year. Since then the district has added the program to several other schools. ETIL is a combination of teaching students technology and information literacy skills. Students are taught skills to use tools, resources, processes, and systems responsibly to access and evaluate information in any medium. They use that information to solve problems, communicate clearly, make informed decisions and construct new knowledge, products, or systems. Classes participate in the program weekly during their specials and library time. During this time students work on a variety of projects that are integrated with their classroom curriculum. Students gain knowledge not only on using a wide assortment of software applications, but also on becoming information literate students. We look forward to providing this valuable program to students at Buffalo Ridge, and preparing them with essential 21st century skills.
