Principal's Message

Our second quarter has just begun, and we are excited about working with our students as they get ever closer to graduation.

The change in weather reminds me to let you know what to do about snow days here at Eagle Academy. First off, if HRHS is closed due to snow, then we will also be closed. If HRHS is open, but we decide to close due to weather, we will change our answering machine message to clearly state that we are closed. I would also recommend checking the district website (www.dcsdk12.org) to look for closures. I completely understand that you may not wish to have your student out on bad roads, and that is one reason we have some cushion for absences built into our program. Please remind your student that saving up absences is key this time of year.

We will have a compressed schedule on Thursday, October 29, due to an all-school assembly from 7:15 - 9:00.

There is an opportunity for fifty students (first come, first served) to go see the play A Christmas Carol on Wednesday, December 2nd. Tickets will be $20. Interested students should bring a check or cash as soon as possible to reserve a spot.

Our next Parent Teacher Conference Night will be held on Wednesday, November 18th, from 7 - 9 pm here at school. This is a great opportunity for you to meet your student's teachers and to discuss your student's progress.

I believe that we are starting to see a bit of a stronger job market for teenagers, but I would also recommend that students keep their current jobs while looking for new ones.

As ever, thank you for sending your student to our school.

Now available... the 2006 ONE Report
The 2006 ONE Report, containing educational information for the 2005-2006 school year in Douglas County School District, is now available. This comprehensive document contains a broad cross-section of information on student achievement, as well as the district’s goals for improvement. The report merges state and federal public reporting requirements of accountability, accreditation and the Leave No Child Behind Act.
The 65-page report includes CSAP student achievement data, School Accountability Report ratings, district assessment data, Advanced Placement information, ACT scores, graduation and dropout rates, teacher qualifications and Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) data. CSAP and AYP data are provided by student groups, for the district overall and for each individual school. In addition, the report includes narratives on district improvement, safe learning environments and coordination of resources.
To access the new 2006 report, visit www.dcsdk12.org and select “2006 ONE Report” under District Publications. To request a printed copy of the report, call the Communications Office at 303.387.0033 or send an email to communications@dcsdk12.org.
